Teachers
Heather Greaves, Principal Teacher
Heather Greaves is certified as a Professional Yoga Therapist at the 1000-hour level with Integrative Yoga Therapy (IYT). In 1998 she received her certification as a Hatha Yoga teacher from the Esther Myers Yoga Studio. She is also certified as a Kundalini Yoga Teacher. Heather started her journey with yoga in 1969, and has been training yoga teachers in the IYT Yoga Alliance certified program since 2005.
Alex Bovkis, E-RYT 500
Alex Bovkis was certified as a Classical Yoga Teacher in the summer of 2004. Since then she has taken advanced teachers training and is now qualified as an E-RYT 500. Having close to a thousand training hours and over 2000 teaching hours behind her, she continues to explore this incredible path of yoga further. She is currently studying with several different teachers from different yoga styles and trains in encompassing both the breadth and the depth of yoga.
Alex teaches
in various locations in Hamilton, and at York University in Toronto. Her classes are geared towards relaxation and release of stress, calming of the mind and opening the body. She invites her students to use their yoga practice to gain insights into their patterns and habits, discovering and becoming more conscious of hidden layers in their personality.
Ann Cotton, RN, BScN, MEd - Prenatal Anatomy & Physiology
Ann trained as a Registered Nurse in the early 1970s and after working in a variety of clinical settings decided later in life to pursue further qualifications in nursing and education. Since 1996 Ann has been a clinical educator in women’s health at Hamilton Health Sciences and an Assistant Clinical Professor in the McMaster University BScN program. Ann believes that educators play a key role in contributing to quality care and feels privileged to be involved in clinical education with both professional nurses and students.
Hoda Kamel, MBA, P.Eng, M.A.Sc - Business of Yoga
Hoda Kamelhas experience in marketing in the High Tech sector for more than 7 years. Worked at Genn um Corporation and Factory as a Product Manager. Currently teaching Marketing Courses at Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology in the Business Management Department. Taught Marketing 1 & 2, International Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, Retail Merchandising 2, Applied Selling and Marketing Management.
Dr. James Lamontagne, B.Sc., D.C. - Anatomy and Physiology
Dr. Jim Lamontagne attended McMaster University and graduated from The National College of Chiropractic in Chicago Illinois in 1982. Dr. Jim has had a chiropractic practice in Hamilton for over twenty five years. Dr. Jim's experience includes working with Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the Hamilton Seekers Volleyball Club, Hamilton Olympic Track and Field athletes, and he was chosen to be on the Canadian Medical Team for the 2003 Pan-American Games in Santo Domingo.
He is a mentor for The Wellwood Cancer Support Center and is on the Board of Directors for Sport Hamilton.
Dr. Pradeep Kumar, MD (India), DAc - Energy Body
Pradeep trained as a pediatrician in India, and worked in the field of community health in the Himalayan foothills of north India for over twelve years. Later, he trained as an acupuncturist in Sri Lanka and Canada. At present, he has a private practice in acupuncture in Hamilton, as well as teaching acupuncture at McMaster University. He studied at the Mind-Body Medical Institute at Harvard University. Pradeep has a particular interest in meditation practice and its role in healing.
