Tips for Your Yoga Practice
A FEW TIPS FOR YOGA PRACTICE
- Preparing for yoga is quite simple: loose, comfortable clothing to allow proper breathing, digestion and circulation. No belts.
- Practice two to three hours after a meal.
- Do not hold your breath in the postures. If you realize you are holding your breath, exhale; maybe you are making too much effort. This will cause strain.
- If the floor is too hard on your hands or knees use a blanket or pillow to eliminate the discomfort.
- Be mindful of your own particular weakness or limitation and be kind to your self.
- Develop a regular daily practice of the basic postures, starting with the ones you like most. Repeat each pose two or three times.
- Leave a little space between postures to notice, if you can, the effect of the pose and to quiet the mind even further. Breathe, stretch, and enjoy your practice.
