For those who have chosen the path of becoming a yoga therapist, the road can be a long yet rewarding one. As you work towards creating a healthier lifestyle not only for your future students, but yourself as well, you’ll come to learn that the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) requires all potential instructors to complete a 1,000 hour certification program. However, at Body Therapies Yoga Training, we are able to offer future instructors the opportunity to receive their certification at a quicker rate.
If you start a course in yoga therapy now, you will only need to complete a total of 800 hours as opposed to the 1,000 hours you would be required to complete it you were to wait until next year, 2014. As you consider taking advantage of this opportunity, there are three aspects that we would like you to keep in mind:
1. Your own wellness – In order for you to be a healer to others, you must first know how to heal yourself. As such, a major emphasis of this course will be the practice of Ayurveda self-care, which can be translated to “the science of life”. Originating in India over 5,000 years ago, Ayurveda is utilized for daily health maintenance, treating a person as a whole – mind, body and soul.
2. This course can appeal even to those who may not want to teach – During this certification program, participants will learn the basics of yoga and gentle poses. Regardless of whether you are interested in becoming a yoga therapist, you can still familiarize yourself with the art of relaxation and breathing better and subsequently, teaching others to do so.
3. Becoming more aware of your movements – As time progresses, it seems as though we are all moving at a rushed pace. This course will educate you on how to slow down and be more aware of the way that you move, speak and even breathe. Often times we become so uncomfortable with our body that we avoid looking at it or relating to it all together. This is an effective way of bringing together all of the parts that we avoid and becoming comfortable with ourselves in our natural form.
Few people are aware of this opportunity to set themselves up on the fast-track of becoming a certified yoga therapist, which is why we want to ensure that you, as our valued readers, know that the time to embark on this journey is now. Take the first step and register for our upcoming September certification program today!
